Homemade Pandan Extract

All along for my pandan cakes, I used store bought pandan paste/extract for convenience sake. I am too lazy to wash, snip, blend, squeeze and wait.Sounds like a lot of work right? Ha!

Well 2 days ago, I became hardworking and decided to make some homemade extract.I actually spent only 15 minutes to get everything done! It isnt really that difficult and time consuming once you tried :)
Here I am sharing with all of you how I made the extract :)
Makes:
  • about 30ml

You will need:
  • 1 packet of pandan leaves
  • water

The Preparation:
  1. Snip off the top and bottom of the leaves.
  2. Wash thoroughly.
  3. Cut them into small pieces.
  4. Put them into a blender.
  5. Add enough water to ease blending.(i added about 10 tablespoons of water.)
  6. Blend till paste-like.
  7. Squeeze the juice through a sift.
  8. Pour into a clean container through a sift.
  9. Store in fridge and let it rest for 2 days.
  10. Carefully discard the top part (lighter color),the bottom part is your extract.
  11. Refrigerate the extract for future use.
  12. Bin it once it starts to smell (awful).

Freshly blended pandan juice!
After a few hours.
